I have been reliably informed that mine is totally beyond repair, but I have found other faulty ps3′s for sale from about £40. Has anyone got any experience with this? Or any suggestions? Cheers, guys and gals!
I guess it depends on what models you are trying to swap. If you have a non-backward compatible PS3, you need to find a motherboard from another non-backward compatible PS3 (backward compatible motherboards simply won’t work). Also, the Blu-Ray drive & laser assembly is tied to that specific motherboard, so you’ll have to find a motherboard that works with your specific laser assembly model.
To put it simply, if you are gonna swap motherboards, swap with a PS3 that is the exact same model as yours to prevent any potential complications.

Well you could but it would be hard to do.If i were you i take it to a gamestop or another store to see how to do it.

Make sure it’s the exact same model and when u open it up you have to keep track of pieces and watch the gray strips inside because that’s VERY important
