What is a good first-person shooter game for the PC, with a large online gaming community?

Not limited to first-person shooter, but I don’t want like, Diner Dash or something.
Should have mentioned, I have Steam, too.

Modern warfare 2!!!!!!!!! it is the greatest game ever. I haven’t played it on pc but i bet it is just as fun.

    Quake Live. Download for free! It’s Quake but you fight other guys online. Its the number 1 free FPS online.

    Here’s some games you might be interested in, you have the buy them all though.

    Team Fortress 2 – This has a more cartoon characters, but still the same classic online First Person Shooter.
    Counter-Strike-Your original First Person Shooter: Terriost V.S. Counter-Terriost or Zombie VS Human,etc.
    Day of Defeat-WW2 based FPS
    Call of Duty:Modern Warfare II – Self explanatory, start off with a gun and start shooting!
    Half-Life-A normal FPS with tons of weapons like gravity guns.

    All these require Steam to play.

    Heres some free ones.
    Combat Arms is free though the download might take some time.
    Soldier Front is also an option, though it’s pretty much the same as combat arms.
    Both of those games are pretty much like Counter-Strike.
